A male society that revolves around itself and fights boredom with intrigue looks for a new victim: German, who doesn’t really belong. His mates fixate on him, prophesise happiness, social advancement, wealth and watch calmly as addiction takes hold of him. Lisa, the girl for whose sake he wanted to become rich, fades into the background.
His desire to uncover the old countess’s secret becomes ever more urgent. She knows the three cards that always win. One night he breaks into her house and pulls out a pistol...
