The expressive orchestral sounds of Leoš Janáček’s third and most successful opera break through between village confinement and breathtaking impotence, revealing extreme human states in a subtle and non-judgemental way. The production is dedicated to the abysses of a ruthless society that incites women to commit helpless acts and then condemns them.
