It is hardly known that during the First World War the idea of jihad in Germany was accompanied by hopes that were just as high as those as dangerous 100 years later.
Jihad made in Germany? German Reich saw jihad as a secret weapon against England and France. In 1914, Kaiser Wilhelm attempted to mobilise the colonial powers by calling for a war against the colonial powers to “inflame the entire Muslim world to a wild uprising”.
Are we the heirs of this policy?
A team led by the theatre-maker Claudia Basrawi embarks on a research mission with music, video and performance on a research mission. A political-personal exploration between yesterday and today, between Baghdad and Berlin.
