The story of an adolescent’s years of learning and travelling is interwoven with
a meticulous reconstruction of the old Federal Republic. The political awakening of a country that is just beginning to free itself from the mustiness of the immediate post-war period. This era of upheaval is evoked in a kaleidoscopic narrative fabric, which is composed of different literary forms, from conversation transcripts to action scenes, from inner monologues to philosophical philosophical treatise. 
The result is a daring test of strength between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones,  the Catholic Church and psychoanalysis, first love and political radicalisation, between
humour and depression.
